Seven Ways to Offload Used Electronics

The headline asks, "Got an old iPod?  Seven ways to offload your used electronics for cash."  That got PMUG Prez Art Gorski's attention, and he passes along this Arstechnica site.  The article describes these companies: Gazelle, Amazon, NextWorth, uSell, Totem, Apple, Radio Shack.  There's 58 comments to look at, too.

Have You Seen What's FREE & What's For Sale?

Today it's Jim Hamm asking, "Anyone want a FREE set of Technic speakers?  They are in perfect condition, measure 36" high, 17" wide, 11" deep. . . . If you want them and can pick them up call me  or send an email to me. . . "   Go to this PMUG page to see the photo of the speakers and get Jim's phone number and email address.  And, if you have anything for sale see that page, too.

Member For Sale Items

Have you noticed that the PMUG website has a category under Benefits,  "Member For Sale Items"?  Martyn "Bhupesh" Arnold is one of our newer members, and he has some older Macs for sale that he's collected over the years. He wrote, "I make my living around Macs. I’ve been a technology and productivity consultant and trainer for 25+ years, focused mostly on businesses. I’ve been a Apple/Mac guy since 1982. I also do some programming."   Here's his link to the site with photos of his refurbished Apple computers.

Find a Bargain?

David Passell sends us this note tonight, "For anyone interested, I was at Prescott's Goodwill Store on Iron Springs Road today and saw a 400mb G3 iMAC for $29.95. It is sitting on a $14.95 computer desk. I looked it over and unfortunately did not have an airport card, or I would have bought it. They have a 14 day return period, so if it is bad you can return it. It is the same model machine as I have that runs Tiger. Not sure of its memory, HD, DVD. Good enough for E-mail and light web browsing."

Swap Meet at Saturday's Meeting

Our June 26 meeting will feature Zee Hamm as presenter.
In addition, PMUG will be holding a swap meet.  All members and guests are invited to bring in their computer parts, software, books, and accessories.  Put them on the back tables with description, prices, and contact information.  Come and browse, then after the meeting the swap event will be held from 12 to 1 p.m.  Bobbie Pastor reminds us, "Come early if you plan to set up items for the swap meet."

Zee will teach us how to work in iPhoto, creating beautiful albums called a Keepsake book.  She'll be showing us some pictures of their Peru vacation.  No doubt, Jim will add his 2¢ also.

Would You Like a Swap Meet?

What do you think of us having a Swap Meet for members to sell Mac related items?  The question came up at today's PMUG Board meeting.  To sell something you'd have to be a PMUG member, but of course we'd welcome anyone to come and buy.  We'd like suggestions on time, place, etc.  Do you have items you'd like to sell?  Jot down ideas and bring them to Saturday's meeting, or email ideas to the Board. We value your opinion.  Thanks.

iPademonium

With a newly-coined word like "iPademonium" these guys are talking about "you-know-what."  Jim Hamm suggests we look at the Small Dog Electronics offerings.  He's purchased items from them and thinks highly of them as an Apple retailer.  They offer a newsletter you can subscribe to,  (#665 is about iPad) and their home page is here with Apple products, refurbished Apple products, and accessories for the iPad.

Amazon Selling Apple at a Big Discount

"On sale!"  Two urgent words!  De Prez Allen Laudenslager rushes us this news, so check it out right away.  Amazon advertises some smoking deals on Apple products. He announces, "I looked at their website and found the MacBook Pro for $101 off and free shipping."  He wasn't aware that Amazon was an authorized Apple reseller and is offering discounts on Apple products. Did you know that?!
